I have this burning feeling (whatever that is) that some humans may have read my last blog and thought that I reject evolution for a single reason. But this is not the case. The theory of evolution breaks down on a number of different levels — and this blog has been written to discuss the rest. That being said, because the theory of evolution has so many problems, I won’t be discussing them in as much detail in this blog. If you wish to learn more about a specific topic, I have provided you with a link at the bottom of the page where you can do so.

Let us begin.

1) The first major problem with the theory of evolution was discussed in yesterday’s blog, but I thought I should summarize it here once again. In order to have a living cell, you need to have functioning proteins. These proteins are only built from amino acids. But research has shown that amino acids have no ability to self-assemble themselves — they can only be ordered by the DNA (or genetic information) that is within the cell. The problem for the evolutionist is that DNA is intelligent. (It knows how to build over 30,000 different types of proteins that make up the human body. On a side note, a single cell is often composed of thousands of different proteins). DNA is the most densely packed and elaborately detailed assembly of information in the known universe. The biology department at Palomar College has said that, when unfolded, the DNA of a single microscopic cell would span six feet. They also state that the average human body contains a total of 68 billion miles of DNA! The problem for the evolutionist, of course, is where did all of this information orginally come from??? This problem is further complicated by the fact that, in the known universe, intelligent things only come from other things that have intelligence.

But there are several more ways in which the theory of evolution breaks down.

2) The second way in which the theory of evolution fails is that it directly contradicts the scientific law known as the law of biogenesis. The law of biogenesis was proven in 1860 by Louis Pasteur. It simply states that life can only come from life. (Easy enough?) Dr. George Wald, professor of biology (and Noble Prize winner) from Harvard University confirmed this and stated, “The idea that life arose from nonliving matter was scientifically disproved by Louis Pasteur in 1860″.

Why is it that page two of many biology textbooks tells us of the most fundamental law in all of biology: The Law of Biogenesis — but then page three tells us that nonliving chemicals formed life four billion years ago??? If you ask a science teacher exactly how this happened (when it directly contradicts the law of biogenesis) they will tell you that you just have to assume by faith that it somehow happened. Of course, I don’t really care to discuss faith right now. I’m here to talk about science.

3) As if violatating one scientific law wasn’t enough, the theory of evolution also violates the second law of thermodynamics. In short, this law states that everything in our universe is running downward. In other words, everything is moving from a state of order and organization — to a state of disorder and disorganization. Leave your car out on your driveway for the next ten years and see what happens to it. (It might end up in the junkyard). Every object in the universe is running downward in complexity. (You could say that everything is falling apart). A building left untouched slowly begins to crumble. (This is why we do building maintainance). Every person and plant is also running downward in complexity — and will eventually die. Even the sun is running down — and so is the universe as whole. (One day our universe will reach what scientists sometimes call its “ultimate heat death”).

The law of evolution states that non-living matter actually evolved upward into greater and greater complexity. But this is not what we observe in science. Actually, even the genetic information from one generation to the next is running downward! Your parents have more genetic information than you do — and your children will have less genetic information than you do.

On a side note, many evolutionists will often argue that evolution can happen if it is just given enough time. (Actually, this might be their favorite argument). In other words, maybe things will evolve if we just add a few million more years! But unfortunately, this is only going to make the problem WORSE. The second law of thermodynamics states that everything is in the universe is running downward. Therefore, if you add a few million more years to your theory you’re only going to end up with greater and greater disorder! (If you thought the car on your driveway looked bad after 10 years, you should see what it looks like after a million years!)

To further illustrate this point, let’s say that on a calm day you took 2000 notecards onto an airplane. Your goal was to drop the notecards fom 5,000 feet up with the hope that they would assemble themselves into the phrase “Happy Birthday”. So the plane goes to 5,000 feet and you drop your notecards out the door — but unfortunately, they do not spell out the phrase you were hoping for. “Well,” you say to yourself, “Maybe they would have assembled into the proper phrase if they just would have had a little more time!” So you then take the airplane up to 25,000 feet and drop the cards out the door — this way they’ll have more time to order themselves. Well, what’s going to happen? Obviously, you’re scattered mess is going to get a heck of a lot worse! The greater the time span, the greater the chaos and disorganization — this is a fundamental law of our entire universe.

Wow. I think I only got to about half of what I wanted to talk about. Looks like this blog is going to have a part 3 to it! But hopefully by now you are starting to catch on.

The only thing that I really admire about evolutionists is that they have a heck of a lot more faith than I do. I’d much rather have faith in something because of all the evidence — not in spite of it!

Oh yeah, here’s that link I promised: http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/qa.asp

Please know that this blog was not written to trick anyone into putting their faith in God. Rather, it is simply a blog that expounds on scientific data. You are more than welcome to verify this information on your own to confirm its accuracy.

That being said, my only request is that you do not read this blog if you know that learning of God’s existence will not cause you to pursue Him futher. If this is you, I kindly ask that you would stop reading at this point.

If, however, you know that you would further pursue your creator if you learned that you had one — then you may continue below the solid line.

—————————————————————

“How you answer the question of origins, whether you are an accident or a unique creation of God, will ultimately determine everything else in your life. It will determine your value for human individuals, your basis of morality, your meaning and purpose in life, and your ultimate destiny. It is one of the most fundamental questions you can ask“.

-Dr. Ron Carlson

Where did life come from?

When it comes to the origin of human life, there are only two possible explanations. Either:

1) God created life.

2) God did not create life. (Life arose spontaneously from non-living matter).

This is really the beauty of the question — the fact that there are only two possible answers! If we can prove one to be true, then we know that the other is false. If we can prove one to be false, then we know that the other is true. There is no third option. (Now please don’t tell me that we could have also been created by aliens on the planet Zenu. In doing so, you would only be shifting our problem to the planet Zenu!)

In this blog, we will be disproving number “2″ above. By demonstrating that life cannot arise spontaneously on its own — we will have proven the existence of a creator (since we only have two options).

Here is a brief summary of the argument that follows:

1) All living cells are made up of proteins.
2) All proteins in a living cell are made up of amino acids.
3) Amino acids have no ability to self-assemble into proteins.
4) Amino acids can only assemble into proteins by instruction provided by the DNA (genetic information).
5) DNA is intelligent.
6) Intelligent things can only come from pre-existing intelligent things.

That being said, let us begin.

I find it to be rather fascinating how easily many of our “scientists” blow past the subject of life arising from non-living chemicals when they teach about evolution. (As if getting life from non-living chemicals is easy!) Let’s take a look at what is really required for life to arise from non-living matter.

In short, every living cell is made up of proteins. And every protein is made up of amino acids. So before we can get to life, we must first have proteins. And before we can get to proteins, we must first have amino acids. Here is a splendid diagram:

Amino Acids ========> Proteins ========> Living Cell

Now it is time for us to introduce a massive, massive problem.

Our massive problem is this: Research shows that amino acids have NO ability to self-assemble themselves into proteins. In other words, if you placed the 20 known amino acids that are in the human body in a shoebox — and then shook them together for all of eternity — you would never get a single useful protein.

Ouch.

To further prove this point, let me tell you about a man by the name of Dr. Dean Kenyon. (His Ph.D. is in biophysics). Dr. Kenyon once proposed that amino acids could indeed self-assemble themselves into useful proteins due to the “gravitational forces that existed between amino acids”. Kenyon even wrote a book called Biochemical Predestination where he theorized just how this could happen. I guess you could say that he was (and still is) the world’s foremost expert on the subject.

But as Kenyon continued his research, he realized that his theory had some devastating flaws in it. Five years after publishing his book, Kenyon finally conceded that amino acids could not self-assemble themselves into proteins on their own. Here is what Kenyon said:

“My doubts about whether amino acids could order themselves into meaningful biological sequences on their own without pre-existing genetic material being present just reached the intellectual breaking point for me.”

He then went on to say:

“Further experimental work showed that amino acids do not have the ability to order themselves into any biologically meaningful sequences”

The main point here (obviously) is that amino acids have no ability to assemble themselves into proteins.

So if amino acids cannot self-assemble, then how on earth do they assemble in the human body to form the proteins that make up each and every living cell?

The answer is in your DNA (or genetic information). At this point, I must confess that my diagram above was inaccurate. Since amino acids cannot self-assemble themselves into proteins, but are assembled by your DNA, here’s what our diagram really looks like:

Amino acids ===== DNA =====> Proteins ========>Living Cell

It is now that we come to a second massive, massive problem.

Our second massive problem is this: DNA is intelligent. Your DNA knows how to assemble amino acids into the proteins which form all of the living cells in your body. (There are more than 30,000 different types of proteins in the human body). This includes complex cells which make up organs such as your brain, heart, liver, etc. The genetic information assembles amino acid chains that are often hundreds of units long — and the arrangement of amino acids within a chain is critical.

Regarding the intelligence contained within the human DNA, here is how one popular science video stated it:

“DNA is the most densely packed and elaborately detailed assembly of information in the known universe“

Can we discuss sex for a moment? Your daddy once gave a sperm to your mommy. The (intelligent) sperm then swam to an egg cell, and dove in. At this point, you became you. You became an embryo. Now let me ask you this: When you were a microscopic embryo, how exactly did you unfold yourself into a functioning human body that now contains over 10 trillion cells? Were you smart enough to do it? Was your mom smart enough? How about your dad — was he smart enough? Who exactly was it that unfolded you? You see, the only reason that you were able to grow into a fully functioning human with a brain that could think, a heart that could beat, and a body that has over 10,000 miles of blood vessels was because of the densly packed genetic information (DNA) that was inside of you! Can you even fathom this much information being packed into a microscopic embryo (two cells)?

Again, the point I’m making here is an obvious one: Human DNA is intelligent.

Well, I guess it’s time to put the nail in the coffin:

In the known universe, intelligent things only come from other thing that have intelligence.

You see, our problem is further complicated by the fact that intelligent things in our universe never come from things that are not intelligent. In other words, intelligence only comes from intelligence. The computer in front of you is certainly an intelligent piece of machinery — it was formed by intelligent humans. The same can be said for a car, a radio, a train or even a sun-dial. These intelligent things all came from intelligent human beings. You certainly wouldn’t come across one of these items in a forest (or elsewhere) and think that it had formed spontaneously, would you? Birds’ nests are also intelligent — they are formed by intellingent birds. A spider web is intelligent — it was formed by an intelligent spider. (In the history of our world, no meteorological event has ever produced a spider web or a bird’s nest!) Intelligent things only come from things that have intelligence.

Human DNA is intelligent — it knows how to properly order amino acids to form the proteins which make up each living cell in the human body. (Remember that there are over 30,000 different types of proteins). This (intelligent) genetic information could not have arose from non-living matter — it had to have come from something (or someone) that had intelligence.

In conclusion, if you want me to become an atheist, or to even doubt the existence of my God, you must do one of two things:

1) Tell me how amino acids self-assembled themselves into useful proteins — when this is scientifically impossible.

or

2) Tell me how the intelligent genetic information was written — when nobody was there to write it. (In other words, explain to me the origin of DNA).

Good luck with that.

You may remember that I asked you not to read this unless learning of God’s existence would cause you to further pursue Him. I hope that you will keep your end of the deal. (This is for your sake, not mine).

Finally, I will be writing some follow-ups to today’s blog — so please check back soon. In the meantime, I’ll be happy to field any of your questions.

“The tragedy is that evolution is a nineteenth-century philosophy that has been destroyed by twentieth-century science. Yet the lie continues to be perpetrated, not on scientific grounds, but because it is what morally justifies our immoral society today.”
